My Journey to This Work
I was first diagnosed with celiac disease in 2010, and 10 years later, I received a second life-changing diagnosis: Graves’ disease. Both are autoimmune conditions—where the immune system mistakenly attacks the body’s own healthy tissues. And to be honest, I never saw the second one coming.
I thought I was doing everything “right.” I followed a strict gluten-free diet, moved my body regularly, stayed hydrated, used clean products, had a solid bedtime routine, and avoided alcohol and smoking. So when I was told that my body was attacking itself again, I was confused, devastated, and completely overwhelmed.
Graves’ hit me hard—mentally, emotionally, and physically.
I was losing weight rapidly, my hair was thinning, I had tremors in my hands and feet, and I was constantly running to the bathroom. My heart was racing, I had intense palpitations, and I couldn’t sleep no matter how exhausted I felt. It was terrifying. I kept asking myself: How could this be happening when I’ve worked so hard to be healthy?
The truth? While my lifestyle helped keep me out of the hospital, it wasn’t the full picture. What I didn’t realize then was just how much emotional chronic stress and unprocessed trauma were impacting my immune system. I was living in a constant state of fight-or-flight without even knowing it.
For me that was the missing piece.
If food alone, which I was told was the answer, my strict gluten-free diet would have been enough to keep autoimmunity at bay. But the deeper root cause—my chronic emotional stress and overactive, dysregulated immune system—was never addressed. I had never explored how my emotional experiences, trauma (like being an immigrant from a communist country), and internalized stress were still living in my body and silently fueling inflammation. I had no idea how my thoughts influenced my emotions and therefore my actions that became my life.
Your thoughts aren’t just “in your head”—they create real physiological changes in your body. When you're stuck in patterns of fear, stress, or self-criticism, your brain activates the stress response, triggering hormones like cortisol and adrenaline. Over time, chronic stress can dysregulate the immune system, disrupt the gut lining, and increase inflammation—key drivers in autoimmune conditions like Graves’ and Hashimoto’s.
Once I connected those dots, everything changed.
I began focusing not just on nutrition and lifestyle—but on nervous system regulation, trauma healing, and building safety in my body again. I learned how to process emotions instead of storing them. I worked on boundaries, self-compassion, and shifting out of survival mode. And over time, I reversed all of my symptoms and reclaimed my health—fully and holistically.
That healing journey is what led me here.
Now, I help other women navigate autoimmune conditions with the same integrative approach that supported me—blending functional nutrition, nervous system regulation, root-cause exploration, and mindset work. Because true healing happens when we support the whole person—body, mind, and spirit.. I hold space for real transformation—not just symptom management, but deep, sustainable healing that brings you back to yourself.
